iScripts Backuper: Installation Manual

Prelude

Please read each step of the relevant instructions before undertaking the first step. It is always a good idea to backup your all data before performing any sort of changes to your server/files. 

System Requirements

iScripts Backuper runs equally well on Linux, Windows or any platform that can support a web server and the PHP language.

We recommend Apache web server, but any web server that supports PHP is acceptable. Server have to meet the following requirements for the best performance.

a) PHP 5.2x or 5.3x

b) MySQL database server 4.1 or greater. 

Other Requirements for Trouble-free Installation/Compatibility are: 

a) SendMail - (Yes).

b) PHP safe mode - (OFF).

c) CURL extension - (Yes).

d) PHP open_basedir - (OFF).

Overview iScripts Backuper

iScripts Backuper is an open-source backup software. Server software and a desktop client for users are the two major components of backup software. This is an easy-to-use desktop software. The open-source script supports billing, account management, backup management and more. Backuper software allows you to build an online data backup service solution for yourself or clients. iScripts Backuper runs on Linux servers, it makes the system very economical and reliable. The backup is encrypted using powerful algorithms and secure connections.

Installation 

Given below are the step to be performed for installing iScripts Backuper in your server.

A. Upload the unzipped contents to a web accessible directory on your website.For eg: http://www.yourdomain.com/backuper where “backuper” is the directory.    

 

B. Create a MySQL database and a database user with full permission on the database which was just created. If you have any hosting control panel like Cpanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin or Helm you can do the same by logging into it.

 

C. Open a browser and point it to http://www.yourdomain.com/backuper/install. You will be prompted to provide write permission (chmod 777) 'backuper' folder.You cannot continue installation without providing this permission

 

D. In the first section you need to enter the Database info including the host name, database name, database user and password. You will obtain these details from step 2.2 If your MySQL server resides in the same machine you can just enter “localhost” as database host name. 

 

E. In next section you will be asked for site details, mainly

 

a) Site Title:- Which will be displayed in your website after the installation. The same will be used as the "Product Name" in the Client tool. All the user interactive messages,labels will use this name.

b)     

c) File Server Name:- Just like web server, this is central part of the entire application. This is the file repository server. The client tool on updating details with the web server read and write to this server directly. Basically the file server name should be capable of accepting ssh1 communication. You can give either ip address in the form of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx or a valid domain name in the form http://www.yourdomain.com which can accept SSH connection.

d)     

e) Upload your logo in the size 216(width) X 96(height) preferably in jpeg/gif format.This logo will be used in your site as well as client tool as your identity.

 

f) Upload your splash image preferably in jpg/gif format with the size 680(width) X 552(height) and which will be displayed when your client application starts up as the introductory screen.

g)     

h) Upload your main screen image with the size 363(Width) X 363(height). The file format preferred is either jpeg or gif. Which will be the customized image displayed in the main screen.

 

F. Both SPLASH and Main images are used by the Windows Client tool and this client tool is compiled and zipped at the time of installation. We have currently disabled change of these images at the admin control panel to make the client tool unique for all the users, but you can change it manually by following these simple steps.

 

a) Unzip ClientTool.zip which can be found at yourdomain/downloads.

 

b) After unzipping you will see a folder "support" inside that folder.Browse through the support folder you will see a zipped file images.zip.

 

c) Unzip that and Just replace splash.jpg with your own image,but with same name(splash), repeat the same steps for the other two images,namely mainscreen.gif and logo.gif.

 

d) Zip it back to make a single file called ClientTool.zip and place it in yourdomain/downloads. 

 

G. Give a valid email ID to complete the installation and you will get a welcome mail which will have the user id and password to admin section of your site. 

 

H. On clicking ‘install now’, iScripts Backuper configures the database and script according to your specification. If the installation is successful, you will be able to view the following:

 

Home URL: http://www.yoursitename.com

Admin URL: http://www.yoursitename.com/admin

Admin Credentials:

Username - ‘admin’

Password - ‘admin’

Note: Make sure you change the admin password as soon as the installation  procedure is complete.
